The UofL Family Business Center (FBC) is a community where business-owning families can exchange strategies and experiences, safely explore challenging issues unique to family businesses, and learn from leading experts in family business. From understanding interpersonal dynamics in a professional setting to sustaining a legacy culture, FBC seeks to ensure family harmony while committing to business continuity.


Our Mission

Sustaining Kentuckiana family businesses through connections, support, education, and advocacy. We leverage local and best-in-class resources with the University of Louisville


We do this by:

  • Creating a community of business owners and their advisors that helps strengthen the family and the business
  • Providing educational resources to business-owning families, family enterprises, and family business partners to achieve multigenerational success
  • Generating, translating, and disseminating research about business-owning families and family enterprises in our region.

MEMBERSHIP

Family Business Center Membership options include:

  • Family Business Membership – This membership type is tailored to family-owned businesses and family enterprises in the region who are seeking knowledge of family and business dynamics that can help them succeed from generation to generation.
  • Professional Advisor Membership – This membership type is tailored to companies who are not family-owned but provide valuable services to family businesses in this community. Our membership maintains a 70/30 split in membership of family businesses to professional advisors. Contact our staff to learn more about opportunities to get engaged and to join our waitlist.
  • Community Partners – This membership type is an option for Associations, Chambers, Economic Development and similar organizations our family business members are engaged with who offer services complimentary to the UofL Family Business Center.
